ROAD & BRIDGE

 

We are perfectly qualified to provide all of your Road & Bridge Engineering Services. Our experience and knowledge will help streamline your projects in a manner that will ensure success. We are prepared to offer a wide range of civil engineering services that include:

· Review consultant's work for compliance with program guidelines, goals and objectives.
· Review construction documents as necessary for compliance with all codes and regulations as well as construct-ability and feasibility from a value-engineering standpoint.
· Prepare bidding documents including advertisements, journal publications, general conditions, and technical specifications
· Answer prospective bidders questions and prepare and distribute addenda as necessary
· Conduct Pre-bid meetings preparing agenda and minutes.
· Coordinate with funding agencies to ensure program compliance.
· Investigate bids, perform reference checks and make recommendations on award of contracts.
· Prepare contract documents for execution.
· Observe and record all construction activities to ensure compliance with all codes, regulations, and grant and loan provisions.
· Conduct Project Progress meetings preparing agenda and minutes.
· Review all submittals for proper compliance with project specifications.
· Prepare project closeout documentation as required for grant and loan provisions.
·Provide Project funding and feasibility advice.
· Provide Project design details as needed including construction documents and cost estimates.
· Provide any other technical support and or advice you may need.

 

The WEC Team is well suited to provide your Road & Bridge Engineering Services. We have the in-house capabilities to provide all the engineering services you may need for your civil projects with the exception of geotechnical investigations and surveying. WEC can provide you with the experience and understanding to successfully complete your road and bridge projects from both a technical and public relations standpoint. We will assign principals in key project roles to ensure that the County receives exemplary service.

WEC has the experience, knowledge and resources to address the needs of your road and bridge construction projects. Our Project Manager John Johnson is a former City and County Engineer and has developed and implemented over $40 million in public works projects. This knowledge and experience, along with the resources of WEC will allow us to effectively provide your Road & Bridge Engineering Services.

 

Understanding the Needs of the Project

With the extensive experience Mr. Johnson and WEC have with public works projects, we are well equipped to understand the needs of your projects. These needs include the following:

§ Understanding the technical aspects of the project to properly evaluate design alternatives.
§ The experience necessary to evaluate design alternatives to provide low-cost solutions and value engineering alternatives.
§ The knowledge of the tactics of consultants to inflate fees and how to counter such activities.
§ Providing the necessary qualified personnel to observe and record construction activities to ensure contractor's actions are compliant.
§ The knowledge of the myriad of grant and loan provisions that are specific to a particular project.
§ The knowledge and ability to deal with belligerent and/or incompetent contractors whose profit motives put project success at risk.
§ The knowledge of the legal issues involved and the ramifications of the actions of the interested parties.
§ Understanding the importance of positive public relations and the special information needs of public officials.
§ The social and technical skills to deal with contractors, clients, public and all other interested parties.
§ Knowledge of public relations issues and how to deal effectively with the press.
§ Technical skills and knowledge of the latest technology to utilize up to date tools for both mechanical and informational tasks.
§ Budgeting skills and knowledge of contract forms and procedures to properly track and analyze contractor actions.
§ Understanding the larger issues to complete projects under budget while accomplishing DeSoto County's objectives and minimizing disruptions to the public.
